Horn replacement?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Horn replacement?

Post by CrazyPeteUK »

Good afternoon,

How are we all? I hope you're all well :)

Can you please advise how easy it is to replace the horn on a 406, Ive got a couple of horns to fit but im not sure how I should go about doing it.
I've heard it envolves removing sections of the bumper and wheel arch covers etc.

Has anyone done this before?
Sorry for the noob questions as I have never done this before. :/

Hi there Crazy Pete,
I'm very well thanks,
You'll need to jack up the front end, place on axle stands & remove the wheel arch liners.
These are secured by a cross head screw, 3 torx screws & liner pins each side.
To remove the liner pins you push in the centre with a small screwdriver about 5-6mm & then pull them out using a panel puller.
There's quite a few, but you only need to remove the front half.

Why do you want to replace the original,
If it's not working the chances are it's the horn pad contacts under the airbag on the steering wheel.
Any further information just shout DDD :) .

Good morning DDD!

How are you?

I've got an air horn I would like to replace the OEM horn with, as people can't seem to see this "Big car" on the roads in Birmingham.
Tempted to setup an aux horn maybe.
