no fan power - locate fuse

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

no fan power - locate fuse

Post by ScottJ »

Hi I have a 2001 406 rapier and as I was driving earlier today I turned up the fan from 1/4 when turning the dial the fan stopped working completely, now I am hoping it just a fuse has gone but I dont know what fuse it is, the handbook and 99% of all other 406 pictures I have found show a row of 3 fuses, however mine has 4 rows and looks like this one

can someone advise on which fuse it is and/or what else to check
the dashboard and control panel lights up as should do, the air con light comes on etc but the fan doesn't come on.

Looks like fuse 40, this seems to supply the fan directly.

Also, early D9's are good at frying the connectors on the fan supply wires...

Btw that's 2 fuse panels, according to Pug - one 28-way and one 12.

Thanks for the reply, earlier I went to go take a look and check it, however it started to work, I had restarted the ignition several times throughout the day with the issue occurring, but leaving it for several hour and its fine. I am hoping that its just a one off, however I am wondering if anyone has any idea to why this would happen?

Mine has a similar prob, I found its a bad connection on the wiring harness from the ignition switch to the fuse panel , In the connector block that plugs into ign switch. Bought one from fleabay but was slightly different, so I have wedged the wires in a way that it works at the moment, till I find the correct one
