pp2000 shows wrong engine temperature

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

pp2000 shows wrong engine temperature

Post by ipubudu »

I use pp2000 for my peugeot 406 2.0L 16v executive ( EW10J4 engine code)
and it shows 43 deg. Celsius while engine temperature meter on cluster shows 85 C -90 C.

Radiator cooling fan works perfectly and no over heating.

when i connect another scanner (Lauch) it also shows same reading as pp2000. It seems that ECU gets wrong engine temperature .
if so, will the engine run with open loop fuel regulating continuously?
will it cause to execs fuel burn?
i cannot imagine how to handle this case. :?

please help to solve this
your valued comments are highly appreciated.
thanks

Maybe it is the oil temperature? My 406 2.0L 16v had an oil temp indicator on the instrument cluster.

I looked around but can't seem to find any details around where the oil temp sensor is located, or how it works in combination with the engine / injection management. Any-one else?

Hi, the CTS ( Coolant Temperature Sensor ) can give false readings and lead to over fuelling etc.

Its not to expensive to buy one, about £10 from eBay ( not sure about a genuine Peugeot part though ) and it may fix your issue.

I'm not sure what else to suggest?

From what I remember earlier cars use a separate temperature sensor for the engine management (all in one after they went full-mux). Diagram shows a black connector (I think the other is brown?) on the outlet tank (also contains thermostat).

Seems a bit vague but if you pull the connector the temperature on PP should drop to zero (rather than the one on the dash...)

hi,
Thanks for replies.
i brought the car to agents. with their analyzer ( PP2000 via Diagbox) shows correct temperature. ( it shows the value exactly same with the temp. meter on dash). they say that PP2000 we brought from outer market gives some wrong value in eng. tmp
