Hi All,
I am having an issue with My 406 executive (2003). the driver side window is not opening fully. when i press the electric button, it opens but stuck half way. any idea what might be the problem ?

Is this a new issue or has it been happening since you have got the car?

this is a new issue. the windows used to work fine before.

Does the motor slow down and keep making a noise, deos it seem to stick, or does the window stop dead with no motor noise?

it seems windows stop with no motor noise. i can hear a click sound and the window get stuck

Hmm, its a mystery.. 
I guess the next step is to remove the door card and have a look to see if its jammed or if the cogs are stripped?? Sorry I can't help much.
Be careful with the foam layer behind the door card, try to peel it back to have a look - it acts as a water barrier too....

I have a similar problem with my 2001 LX. The drivers window has been fine since new. Suddenly it has decided to open only about an inch then stops abruptly.I can here a clicking as I push the switch but the window doesn't move any further. The window will then close with no problem. Its not intermittent. I have taken all the trim off the door and can't see anything obvious. I presume the mechanism is jamming and therefore the motor cuts out. All the other switches on the door panel work fine.

I have now removed the mechanism completely and found that a strand in the bowden cable has broken and is jamming it. I have sent for a repair kit. That might be fun to fit!
