Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
Ok, we do do them, have a look on line, currently there is a 30% discount running... might be really cheap. You will need to read thru all the specs and match off with yours tho (fogs, ESP, rainsensor...etc..). The OE number don't cross directly i'm afraid...

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
Can you get the 6 digit part number for the comms unit from Service Box, and cross reference it from eBay ones?
I think they all have the same first 4 digits, it's the last 2 that determine the model AFAIK...
Can't you borrow the comms from t'other 307, while it's awaiting a BSI....?

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
Hi Kelv,
Service box lists both 6242CY & 6242CC when you use the VIN.
I don't think I can swap them since one is a 'Mk1' 52-plate, (COMM 2000?) & the one with the dodgy COMM 2005 is a 'Mk2' 57-plate.
I will check though, thanks for the suggestion.

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
Replacement arrived yesterday, it's a 2nd-hand Delphi unit with matching part no.s, manufactured in 2011. It's come out of a scrapped 307, so I guess it was a replacement part as it's too new to be the original.
Had a quick look and noticed it's got dire warnings about how to set it for straight ahead so it doesn't snap the internal wiring by turning it too far either way. It's got a locking device to stop it getting out of position when off the car, but how do I make sure it's correctly centered? Anybody done it before?
I've swapped a 406 COMM 2000, but don't remember even checking this.

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
There's a bit in my "how not to" when I dismantled mine, it went tight at just over 3 turns clockwise. Not sure the one you have there would be the same though. Probably safest if you count the number of turns the car has lock to lock, halve it and make sure you can turn the com2000 off the car this much both ways without it going tight (obviously being very careful to note where it started out).

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
Thank you for that vote of confidence, Welly.
'Tis fixed.
Whilst removing the wiring connectors from the 'old' one, I discovered 1 of the 4 was hanging out. Maybe this was the issue all along?
Decided to proceed with the swap and the fault has gone.
Incidentally the 'old' unit was date stamped 2010, the replacement is 2011, so both had been renewed at some point. Whoever changed the one on my daughter's car made a real half-arsed job of refitting the cowling, several broken clips and bits graunched in any old how. Looks much better now.

Ah splendid, like Welly I was starting to worry
(nah, not really, I'd assumed you'd done it and had already forgotten about it dealing with another problem.)
It wouldn't have been intermittent if it was all the way out. Not quit pushed home might do it though.
How did it go with the clock spring?

Re: 307 Comm2000 Ills
No problem. Instructions are printed on the comm 2005 - turn to the right until resistance felt, turn back 2.5 turns, allow to lock in straight ahead position.
Simples.
