A little more vrooom

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

A little more vrooom

Post by barbaren »

Hi guys
I just love the car. However i would very much like it to put out a little more power. I have the 110 hdi, a comming from a Mondeo with 136 hp. It is a little sluggish. I have never tried anything like this before.
Is there anyone out there that has?
I was thinking of maybe fitting injectors from a 2.2 and a lager turbo. Is it even possible with the current Ecu?
I've read that if the car is to be chiptuned. The exhaust is to be changed. Mine has the eylos system. I rather not dismantle that.
Any suggestions?

Re-map is the simplest way to go. Are you sure you have a dpf, some more details on the car would be handy

yes I'm sure.
It's a 2004 2,0 hdi 110 xs4 Estate lovely car.
I have no idea how to remap. Could be fun to try though.

Galletto 1260 is the tool you need, there are map files out there. It's something I'll be looking into soon for my c5. I had my 307 done professionally due to the later (edc16) ecu but assuming you have an edc15 ecu you shouldn't have any issues.

Hi.

The 2.2 injectors are completely different, so they wont' fit - but a remap can be had for around £100 and your Galletto will enable you to copy your ECU file and email it to a remapper ( HDI Tuning for example ) and then when its altered and emailed back to you, you can flash this onto your ECU - please take precautions though..

Otherwise, clean injectors and a better airflow is all you need ( air filter, remove CAT and FAP and a straight through exhaust ) and will aid any performance gains.

160 BHP is pretty much maximum with stock turbo and injectors.

Here in Denmark it is not allowed to remove the cat and fap. Have fine for doing so. Failing mot which is mandatory every other year.
I will look more into the remapping. I'm just a bit scared of messing everything up.

You can remap even with the cat and fap in place. Emailing a specialist like hdi tuning and explaining your situation should get you started.

hdi tuning says a remap is only possible after cat removal.

110 with DPF? Rumoured to exist, but isn't this the first one we've actually seen?

Remapping should be really straightforward as the Bosch EDC15 is now very well understood.

As above, you should be able to read and write maps yourself via the OBC port.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

When I had my 2.2 C5 I bought one of those tuning chips for not much money and it went like a rocket, I got it to try and improve the fuel consumption - which it didn't.

They are not as good as a proper remap but much cheaper.

Try emailing them, they may be able to do a modified version of the map to suit your car. My 307 still has its cat but the dpf can has been gutted.

I had one for my old Mondy. They only raise the railpressure. To hard on the injectors. I want it done right. Love the car to much. Best car I ever had
