Battery for 2.2 HDI
I have to buy a new battery. In ServiceBox the battery is described as 60Ah. Is this OK or have to put more powerful e.g. 74Ah and what can be the risk with 60Ah - fast discharge in winter and not able to run the engine? I did not find information about height of battery.

Re: Battery for 2.2 HDI
Hi, I have used an 096 battery which just fits height wise ( although they can differ in height ) and 660 or 720 cca, which I think means Cold Crank Amps which is what gives the battery it's grunt. Diesel engines need the extra grunt to start as there is no spark to get the engine going...
There are always deals online, look for discount codes online too - my last battery cost about £60.

+1 I've used 096 batteries on several 2.2 406's.
The last one I got, (which is now on the Citroen), is a 100 - the same physical size 278 x 175 x 175 similar spec, was actually cheaper at my local factors.

Re: Battery for 2.2 HDI
Just fitted a 096 to my hdi 90. Fits in ok length wise, unable to use the top battery box cover. Don’t mind though
cold spell just killed my previous battery which turned out to be in french... possibly the original battery from factory in 2001

Re: Battery for 2.2 HDI
I see there are 2 standards for battery height - 190mm and 175mm. Which one is recommended? Current battery is 190mm and looks ok except the plastic cover. If I put 175mm then how to fill the empty space below bracket on top of battery?

Hi there, the threaded bars on the battery tie down should have enough thread to allow you to clamp this down without any issues.
Have a wee look at the clamps and you should be ok to tell if the threads go down far enough.
Hope this helps!
