First post here having recently got myself a 406 GLX HDI (90) estate.
I need to get myself a spare key programmed, so this has been very useful information thanks....
I also have to do same for my wife's 306 D Turbo (98 R plate). Does this same sequence work for that?

Not sure if it will work for a brand new key as it will have to be setup to the immobiliser first. With the old key as puglover has done, is a case of resynchronising the key to the car.
Not sure if I'm making sense there......

Each key is has 2 electronic systems in them (and the key blade). One is the immobiliser which is a little plastic chip in the key, the other is the remote central locking which is the circuit. The above method does the remote locking but not the immobiliser. The car as to be taken to pug for the immobiliser (with a big wad of cash) to be programmed, i am not aware of anywhere else it can be done.
