Door gubbins be a misbehaving

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Door gubbins be a misbehaving

Post by wes1001 »

Greetings fellow puggers.

Last few times when i have opened the car using the plip, i have heard a definite prolonged noise coming from the drivers door lock area  . I'm guessing that something to do with the central locking gubbins is on it's way out. Now i would like to replace whatever it is before it gets to the stage where the door won't unlock so does anyone have any ideas what it could be or experience fiddling with the said gubbins and anything special/awkward to look out for ?.

Cheers all

Does your car have deadlocking? If so have you compared with/without it to see if it's the central locking solenoid or the deadlocking one (much harder to fix once broken)?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
