Headlight washing mechanism (how it works?)

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Headlight washing mechanism (how it works?)

Post by sozuak »

Hi there,

I bought a second hand 406 Sv 2.0 BVA 2003. Today I removed the headlights and opened the policarbonate clear facing to clean inside. So I cleaned well and now they are looking brigther (they were looking a little yellowish).

The main problem is at the back side of the left headlight there is a free socket laying. It has 2 wires on it. In this model there are headlight washers but it is not functioning (no movement or water leaks under the bumpers). If anybody knows how this washers working ? only the pressure of the water (to make them open) or has a electrically actuated mechanism in it. I have no time to inspect because these washers integrated into the bumpers and it looks to much time needed to remove.

Thank you

Think its water preasure that pushes them out of the bumper, then they retract back with a spring.
Not 100% sure. One of mine wont retract back by itself i have to give it a press with my fingure then it goes in

its probably blown a fuse. Quite a common thing for the head light washers.

if i use mine in icy conditions it blows the fuse straight way. Check the engine bay fuse box for a blown 10A fuse, can't remember what number but maybe 24 or 10.
