Good Evening All auto electricians - as I need your advise please !
Does anyone have any knowledge/installation time frame about this Peugeot Alarm CAT1 Upgrade 9671.zk+8h ebay special I recently bought from peugeot-midlands for my 2003 'multiplex' 406 Estate. It's actually marked up as a Texalam AVA42 by the way !
My local Peugeot dealership couldn't tell me how long it would take to install. I even showed the technicians the colour installation diagrams that it came with but seeing as they had done one before they didn't know what problems they might run into. And at £90per hour I'm not willing to 'let them have a ago' as I understand alarms generally take up to a day to install right ?!
Also they said as they weren't Pofessional Alarm Installers so couldn't sign the Thatcham CAT1 peugeot paperwork it comes with to send back to my Insurers and actually recommended I try a few car alarm fitting shops in the area.
The alarm fitting shops I showed, all refused to install a product they were unfamilar with, using basically the same excuse with regards to if it goes wrong who's to blame, them or Peugeot and suggested I take it back to Peugeot (or buy one of their aftermarket alarms!). Although they did offer to certify the system once installed for £25.
I'm now contemplating either getting a mobile auto electrician out or installing it myself, and if required getting it checked over by Peugeot/Alarm Fitters for proper certification !
Thanks, Todd

I've since spoken to a guy (recommended by the dealer) who reckons he's dealt with installing these on a multiplex before and could fit (and certify) it for me in 3-4 hours... booked him for next week so I'll keep you posted.
By the way, both Peugeot dealers comfirmed it would suit - so fingers crossed - but they also mentioned my '03 2.0 HDI was a rarity as it didn't have particle emmisions filter (PEF) fitted either so I don't know what to think !

you can check that in your chassis no.
mine is VF38FRHZ non PEF
as chassis no. like VF38FRHS will have PEF, the RHS is the important part

Follow MJB's post for a comprehensive list of what should be on your car viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3809
The "Engine Supply" section should tell you if you have a PEF or not

Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.
