Frisky Fuel Gauge?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Frisky Fuel Gauge?

Post by Tiny Tim »

The fuel gauge on my 2.1TD seems to have a little life of its own... im not talking waving about madly, but on my daily commute (Only 20 odd miles) it seems to change position by a good 2/3mm. When I return to the car after work, it'll be pretty much back where it was.

Now, I know that the gauge will change if Im sitting on a hill etc but it will do this when driving constantly on flat roads without me throwing my car round bends.

Anyone else ever had this?

It could be a dodgy sender, an iffy regulator (does your temp gauge do anything similar?) or a duff gauge but this sort of thing has cropped up on here before: they are a bit vague. My 2,1's gauge drops when the engine's turned off - after a journey I look at it and think I'm doing ok but next time I start up it's telling me my right foot's still too heavy (maybe someone's syphoning off my fuel...)

No, temp gauge seems fine.

Good to know mine's not the only one though!
