I went for the Osrams because they were cheaper at £26.99 rather than the £42.00 ish for the PIAA's.
Osram claim 90% more light and 10% whiter light.
Here they are, and I even got a set of 'Ring' Ice Blue 5W capsules (which appear to do absolutely nothing in terms of light effect/colour)

And a closer look at the bulbs

They popped in nicely (after taking great care not to touch the glass), so I waited for nightfall
And waited
And waited
Then it rained
But in the true spirit of this club I stood out in the rain for you guys to take this..........

The Osram is the one on your left

The Verdict:
Well, I must say I don't think the colour of the light is as good as the PIAA's and that also translates to the colour of the beam on the road. It's important to note here that I am not trying to find bulbs that go for this 'blue look' or whatever but I am trying to find something that gives a better, stronger beam on the road as I have been struggling to see on the poorly lit roads at night.
The Osrams are good and definately produce a stronger beam pattern and I noticed instantly when I drove that my headlights were much better. They also have a nice sharp cut off line too.
One thing I have learned (also backed up by something I found on the interweb) is that these manufacturers claims of 50, 60, 80, 90% more light does not mean more light everywhere within the beam pattern. It could be more light 'somewhere' in the beam I have noticed that both sides of the road are better lit (a good thing) overhead light is stronger illuminating road signs well in advance. I have also noticed odd 'hot spots' of light overhead and to the side, picking out buildings, trees etc which is a bit odd.
Overall I am happy with them and they are an improvement over standard, but they did not prduce as much light on the road as I expected and they don't have the 'wow factor' of the PIAA's. Something I can't decide on though is whether the PIAA's just looked better thus making you think they are better or whether the Osrams do 'reach further' down the road.
