Switching passenger Airbag off

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Switching passenger Airbag off

Post by Tiny Tim »

Is it possible on a D8? I'd just prefer having my son on the front with me when I take him to the childminder.

oh... and i rather do it properly without the warning light flashing at me constantly so i know when there's a fault with the drivers airbag!

Any advice appreciated.

I can't say I've ever noticed anything to disable it. Daft question but have you checked the manual?

On the unofficial path it may well be possible to wire in a switch to isolate the firing line. I'd get an auto electrician or someone you trust to do the job perfectly to do that though (with the battery off!!!), else you run the risk of an accidental firing.

I dont actually have a manual for the car  I know there's no key switch like with the D9's. In-line switch might be an idea, so long as it didnt mess with the rest of the system.

I've checked mine and there is nothing mentioned in the D8 manual, or in the haynes wiring diagrams.
I think mjb's idea would work, switch the feed to the inertial sensor.
