Engine light on/limp mode

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Engine light on/limp mode

Post by djp30djp »

The 2.0 HDi 110 Xsara (2002)engine light has come & it's in "Limp Mode",(I know it's a Citroen but same difference).
The diagnostics is saying "Glow Plug Relay Fault" but it seams to be working OK, Any Ideas?
I can't understand why a glow plug fault would put it in Limp Mode, if they didn't work how could that harm the engine?

Mine said glow plug curcuit but it was the radiator fan drawing to much current on it's wiring

The ECU codes are a bit missleading. I would say throttle position but to be fair this normally recovers by itself. The crank position sensor can also cause problems.

Where's James?
