I bought my first 406 a couple of months ago - Y plate 406 HDi (90) estate. Impressive fuel economy but the trip computer is a little too optimistic - it's always showing 999.9mpg! It starts at '---' when stationary but climbs almost immediately to 999 as soon as I go above approx 20mph.
How does the computer get it's data? Is it simply 1 sensor sending fuel flow details? [I wish...]
Could be, all it needs is that and a vehicle speed sensor and I guess this is working or it'd say --- or 999.9 all the time. This is presumably the same gizmo that sends signals to your speedo too.
Tried the stalk thing and it resets ok but problem still there. Whatever speed sensor the trip computer uses is working ok cause I'm getting 'proper' average speed readings. Any idea where the computer gets it's fuel flow readings from? Is it just one sensor or is it the main ECU that's working things out using a combination of sensors?
