hi there its a bit late but the kw2000 is the best and can be found on ebay.
i own a 406 hdi d9 model

My brother got one on ebay for about £60 that worked with the 406. cant remember what it is, but it is bright orange!

Is that the U480 to orange fault reader?

I've got the ELM327 one that you use with a laptop. I'm sure it works fine but I haven't had any faults since I got it, and the live data doesn't react quickly enough for my liking. :?

Looks like that, but provides more than just the fault codes. also provides the fault description and can save stuff to it, clear faults etc.

I think it probably a better version of that.
