Display panel above climate control system

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Display panel above climate control system

Post by bryanmcalister »

I have two problems with the panel.
Problem 1. When I start my car the display is reset & I have to set up time dates language etc... When I turn my car off & immediately turn back on the display holds the settings, but if I turn off for say approx 5 mins then turn on the display settings have reset.
Problem 2. The display setting illuminates as normal during daylight, but when I turn on the lights the display panel does not light up

I have tried 3 different display panels in my car from a scrap yard, all 3 had the same faults which would suggest a wiring or fuse problem. Can anyone help. I have tried looking in the fuse panel under the steering wheel, they are all in tact. Not sure which fuse is specific to this display though. HELP!!! :frown:

1. Sounds like the constant supply is not connected -> wiring prob

2. The the display should dim when you turn teh lights on. I.e. it should be back lit in day light so you can see it, then darken when you turn the lights on so that its not very bright and distacting.

It possible 1 and 2 are connected, as the back light is probably run off the constant supply.

I be checking the wiring, connects. Multi meter and info on the wiring would probably be useful.

Where would I get the wiring diagram showing the connector at the back of the display?

Thanks for your reply

It'd be in the Haynes manual; I'm guessing it's a D9 as it shows the date!
