AIRBAG LIGHT ON

NOTICED THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THE OTHER DAY (NOT FLASHING), WHEN IGNITION TURNED OFF THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED OFF UNTIL I DROVE THE CAR A FEW YARDS THEN IT WOULD COME ON AGAIN. THOUGHT IT WAS ACTIVATING THE SYSTEM WHEN VEHICLE MOVES, BUT I REMEMBER MY 306 SYSTEM ACTIVATES ON RAPID DE-ACCELERATION. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, NOW THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON PERMANANTLY. MY INDICATOR STALK PLAYS UP BIG TIME, WHEN I INDICATE RIGHT THEN STRAIGHTEN UP IT DECIDES TO INDICATE LEFT BY ITSELF, ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS KEEPING THE STALK IN TURN RIGHT POSITION, I READ A STRING ABOUT SOME TAXI DRIVER SAYING THAT THE INDICATOR STALK FAULT CAN CAUSE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE.
ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS ON THE LCD DISPLAY THAT SHOWS TIME, TEMP ETC I HAVE SOME FIGURES SHOWING.... >>4321M, IT WAS ON >>4314M SO I KNOW ITS CHANGING TO SUIT MILEAGE. ANYBODY ANY INPUT FOR ME

The >>4321m is the total distance travelled since the trip computer was reset. On the end of the wiper stalk there is a button marked << if you press this it will scroll through stuff on the display like MPG etc. yours has just been left on distance travelled" that's all.

Air bag light is normally the connectors under the seat - with ignition off have a good wiggle of them all and make sure they're tight, mine was the red connector - I just made it connect a bit better by bending the contacts a tiny bit (with something plastic)

Did you know your keyboard has a "Caps Lock" button ?

Have a scroll through the display and check your average fuel consumption and let us know. To reset the trip computer press and hold the button on the stalk for a few seconds, this is usefull for giving an average mpg for certain trips (as left alone it takes far too long to adjust the figure).

Found the "caps lock" button.
The trip computer is showing 41.5 mpg, but, I've been pulling a caravan.

Ah then the dodgy indicator switch is the same problem as mine has, unfortunately the indicator / wiper / lights controls arall one sealed unit. The device itself is called a com2000, costs about £140 + vat from the stealer and you have to take the steering wheel off to change it.

I now straighten up less agressively after turning right.....

No, I doubt the 2 things are related tbh. I reckon as the guys said the airbag light is probably the connections under one of the front seats...

Had my HDI for 12 months and i didn't know you could reset it......

Just had the side air bag light come on on my 99 HDI110. Undid the conections under the drivers seat, squirted them with electrical contact cleaner and reasembled them. Light went out and has not been on since. It took about 15 minutes.
