dodgy electrics / sensors

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

dodgy electrics / sensors

Post by steveleyland »

anyone got ideas on this
1) temp on dash went from +14 to -9 abd ice warning came on
2) mpg showing 205mpg

possibly sensor in mirror may have caused one but dont think that would have any effect on trip meter, took unit out and connection looks ok as far as i can tell
is it likely to be faulty unit or multiple sensors ?

Eek! Me no likey :( I have a feeling that's just a display and it's controlled by the box of doom. Try disconnecting the battery for an hour?

now cruise control seems to be playing up not sure if all electrics / sensor problems are connected. Will have to try the BSI reset procedure but thinking that will cause me more problems than got already :frown:

I certainly have - what the f...? I must admit, it looks like total bollocks to me & I wouldn't like to try it. What's your cruise actually doing? Maybe it's a coincidence because they don't seem the most reliable of things. Did you try just disconnecting the battery?

yes tried disconnecting battery, got back in car outside temp +10 thought it was sorted started car up went to -11.... :frown: bugger..... went for a drive cruise still not working either.

Got a kit that is supposed to give you diagnostics data - website said all diesels from 2004 compatible with OBD2 however peugeot was compatible from 2000 with the HDI . bollocks doesnt fit / work either.

not my type of car had nearly two weeks not stopped f*cking around with it yet

anyone know how much sensor for mirror is or is it cheaper to get whole unit from scrapper ? also seen some electric heated mirrors on tebay for pug guess its not an easy fix to put them on - anyone done it and got them working

cheers

The temp sensor is about £12 from a Pug Stealer.
