Rear electric windows SLOW

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Rear electric windows SLOW

Post by nimike »

Going down can take around 10 seconds but going up can take 30 seconds. Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem and what fixed it?

Cheers

Someone could have assembled the cards wrong, with the rubber strip arse-about-face, like one of mine was. Mine are getting slow now, extra drag owing to the colder weather, with the full voltage from the alternator spinning they're ok. You could try having the door apart and greasing the runners (no, not the ones the glass goes up and down in). Bad connection somewhere?

Could be that the motors are getting tired :?
Try cleaning and lubing the runners up as the other chaps suggest; I had a load of dried moss fouling up one of mine!

Wow! mine are the same!

I just think they never ever get used so just get 'sticky' in fact I cringe each time I hold that 'up' button for so long

I use them so little it's never been an issue.

The one that pisses me off is when the drivers window decides to auto-reverse and it's sheeting it down with rain (like today :x )

Is this covered in the Haynes manual or is there anyother online instructions on how to do this?

I'd clean the runners and put some silicon grease on them before messing round stripping the door down. Over time the silicon grease washes off and the runners fill with dirt, increase the friction and slowing the window down.

Just get some silicon grease, put window down, clean the seal, then put bit of grease on. see if its better.
