D9 V6 Trip Computer

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D9 V6 Trip Computer

Post by bra1nDeaD »

Hi,

My D9 does not appear to have a trip computer. I have the sat nav screen (with sat nav) and I have a wiper stalk button with two triangles on it. But when I press the button it does nothing, not even repeat the last sat nav audio message. Eventhough my manual clearly states it should do both.

Could it be that my button is broken? When you dont press the button, do you see any proof of the trip computer on the screen? (like the tabs) Or do they only appear when you press the button.

Does anybody else know of another way to see if a D9 has a trip computer?

Any help is much appreciated.

P.S.

I have made an image of how my wiper stalk looks like. It is not that detailed but it serves its purpuse.
Image

On this next image I have circled in red the different markings/functions:
Image
1 = wiper settings (off/auto/slow/fast) by moving the stalk up/down.
2 = wind screen wash by pulling the stalk towards you.
3 = the trip computer / sat nav button.
4 = Is nothing, but I guess that if you would have a read wiper you could twist the end but, and the black notch would be white.

Yes, I'm pressing the button indicated by circle 3.

If pressing the button does nothing, i suggest you bring it to a main stealer and get the BSI reprogrammed to activate the button. Can't think of anything else it could be right now.

P.S. Post some pics of your pug up. Sounds like a good one

Maybe thats the best thing to do, asking can't hurt anyway. I dont have the car that long and the garage that sold it to me said it had a new ECU (or was it a BSI, whats the difference?) so that has a year guarantee on it. Maybe they will do it for free.
Seems a bit weird anyway that it was broken after only 7 years, I was told that it broke after it ran out of fuell :?:

The ECU lives in the engine bay and controls the engine
The BSI lives under the drivers footwell and controls the lights, wipers, horn, etc

Well, I brought it to a local peugeot dealer, not the same one as where it got a new BSI though. I said that the trip computer needs activation in the board computer and they said they will have a look. I expressed my wish not to be billed because this should have been done when the BSI was replaced.
I went to work and after a few hours they called me. He confirmed the BSI needs reconfiguration and that it will cost £ 47,00 (approximately) because they are a different company then the one that installed the BSI (even though they share the same name 'Guy Perry Peugeot'). I said never mind, I'll go to the other one then because then it's free.
When I picked up the car, and I had some suspicion, I pressed the wiper stalk and guess what..... It worked :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

I guess that to find out if it is just reconfiguration they tried it, then called me, and not changed it back :D

So.... Stealing from the stealers 8) hehe

Well done. How can they charge £47.00 for effectively flipping a switch? Playing on peoples ignorance. They won't fool us tho hahaha
