I agree, not much prospect of patching the pcb, but as you said, it should be easy enough to swap that board without changing the whole head unit.

Maybe if you start a thread on upgrading to MP3, or start a fashion for quoting dB figures in your signature.....

There's plenty of threads on upgrading stereos but they don't really tell me what I'd need to know. Anyway, I'm not really into inflicting my choice in music on others, they just think it's a hideous noise considering most of them are either listening to the same music they were 200 years ago or recycled 1980's pop.
