D9 trip computer installed but the mpg is all over the place

D9 trip computer installed but the mpg is all over the place

ive had a great find at scrapy today i found a 406 cuope v6 which had trip computer installed and i had the key so i removed to key,bsi ,wiper stalk,ignition chip thing and put in to my 1999 hdi 110 and and it all works fine apart from the mpg is all over the place numbers up and down and counting up to silly numbers every thing else works fine and drives ok with new bsi but just a bit miffed about mpg as everything else works fine does any 1 have any pointers does it need a wire to the ecu or somthing like that help would be gratefull

The mpg display uses fuel injection data from the ECU not the BSI

do you know what wire it is from ecu to trip comp its the only thing that doesnt seem right do you know what this could be cheers

Its not the instant mpg your reading is it? varies from 28mpg to 999.9mpg

You'll be lucky to see as high as 28mpg in town on a V6 :lol:

it just counts up all the time but have just noticed it wont let me start it all the time now as the key light on dash keeps coming on why would this be as i got the key and chip from the v6 the bsi the ignition surround around the barrel
