BATTERY WARNING LIGHT

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

BATTERY WARNING LIGHT

Post by Coops »

Just when the wife's gone solo in the Pug (W Reg 110 HDI) and I'm down in High Wycombe, she's reporting a very brief bleep from the warning system and an equally brief flash of the battery warning lamp, happens a few times within 3-4 miles of starting her journey. Had a new alternator fitted recently, so not really worried about that and I'll check the voltage readings tomorrow morning after fighting my way back home to North Yorkshire tonight. Could this be an indication that the battery is on it's way out?

Cheers

I wouldn't have thought so if the engine's running at the time. :?

Iffy connection on the alternator?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Maybe a bad earth/corrosion in the under bonnet fusebox/cabin connectors in the footwell?

Gents, many thanks for your replies, I looked at the various bits and pieces you pointed me in the direction of but coudn't find anything wrong and typically the car would seem to be behaving itself at the moment :frown: Thanks again one and all.

Mine did exactly this. Changed the alternator snake belt and no problems since. Happened just after a new alternator. Should have done the belt then but it looked ok.
