fag lighter stopped working

Just cleaning car out and decided to plug my phone in as its going flat. no power to charger.tried my sat nav and the same.
checked fuses and no broken ones. I can only assume that the lighter itself is broken but how do you get it out ?

Stick your fingers in
turn the inner barrel
lift centre bit out
unplug centre bit
life outer bit out
unplug outer bit

If you need to get under it, just lever up the gearstick gaiter and reach under

was the ignition on?as some onley work with it on

Thankyou for your replies. yes the ignition was on but still no joy.I have tried to put my fingers in and twist it out but no joy.I will have to lift the gater and gain access to it that way. I will let you know how i get on.

I've never actually managed to get the fag lighter out of either of mine, I almost broke the one on the D8 trying...
