Help needed with 406 computer display!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Help needed with 406 computer display!

Post by alcot33uk »

Hi all,

Thanks for looking at my post especially as I am a newbie. I have a 2000 406 Estate Diesel. It has a display above the aircon display that shows radio info, cd track etc. The bulb has gone in it! Any ideas? Also the cigarette lighter has stopped working (not a smoker - its for the satnav), the light around it works but the unit has stopped, where can I get one from? Halfrauds?

Thanks

Alex

Welcome Alex!

This one's dead easy. Just lever out the little panels either side of the display, then undo the 4 torx screws holding the panel in. There's 3 bulbs I think, and replacements can be bought from Maplins, Halfords, or any place you might expect to find car bulbs :)

The lighter socket is about £10 from Peugeot dealers, but I'll bet you any money yours isn't broke. Try the fuse! The fusebox is under the dashboard by your right shin, just use a 10p coin to turn the 3 fasteners 90 degrees and the panel should open up revealing the fusebox. Not sure which one you want, but look for the blown 10A which is one of the fuses with space above or below it for it to be fitted in one of 2 positions...

Hi,

Thanks for the uber quick reply! I will get to a local well known motor factor tomorrow!

There is a blown yellow 20amp fuse under the wheel, so I will need to get a replacement!

How come the light round the cigarette lighter works but not the actual lighter? Would it be because the light runs from a different circuit?

Ta

Since my motor's electrics started playing up, now the multi function dispaly though still working has become so dim you can just about make out what it says and at night you can't read/see anything at all. What could be causing this now
