Is there a warning light for cruise control turned on?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Is there a warning light for cruise control turned on?

Post by EvilTwin »

I've just fitted cruise control to my 406 (p*ss easy job, how to guide to follow, even got the workshop supervisor at the dealers to enable it for free, he was curious about if this could be done). The system works a treat, but there's no warning its on and working. So I was curious is there supposed to be a warning light on the instrument panel, or a caption on the multi function display to let me know its on, like most other cars I've driven with cruise fitted?

Its got COM2000.

My Coupe has it factorry fitted and the light is down by your right knee - by the switch - useless!

I retro fitted to the Berlingo and there is no warning light on that

Good to see that it all works Eviltwin.
This is my first car with cruise control.I could`nt be without it now.Its so good & easy to use.And its great when i`m towing our caravan. It makes long journeys so much better, being able to move your feet around.
My Mum got a Sabb 9-5 Aero 2 yrs ago with cruise.Took me a while to convince her to try it.Now she could`nt live without it  .The 406 system is simple to use compared to the 9-5`s,but the 9-5 has a light on the dash to tell when it is in use.

The 2 features I wanted in a prospective new car before i got the 406 2 weeks ago were (besides turbodiesel and an estate with a big boot) climate control, and cruise control. I'd had cruise before, and knew it's a must have if you do any long distance routes, so it was very important to me that the car have it already, or be able to be retro-fitted with cruise.

After figuring out how easy cruise was to fit on a diesel model, through some light net trawling, I went for the car I'm now running and ended up fitting the cruise myself for less than £50.
