Picked up my D9 this evening.
The MFD is dull but visible during daylight but at night its complety blacked out.
Im guessing the bulb(s) have gone.
Are these bulbs specialist Pug ones or did I rear right they are sidelight bulbs?
How do you remove the screen, pop out the 2 plastic panels each side?
Thanks (You'll get a lot more asking for help)

Re: MFD Dull
There are 3 backlight bulbs - they're wedge base capless lamps, but smaller than the sidelight version, (same as many other cars instrument illumination & about 50/60p each from any accessory shop IIRC).
To remove the display, prise off the two side covers as you suspected, then remove the small torx screws underneath.
(You'll have to unplug the display, which loses the clock/date & langiage selections etc. so it's a good idea to familiarise yourself with setting these first)
The lampholders are released by twisting them 1/4 turn & pulling out the lampholder. The lamps are very tight, but do pull out of the holders. If you get relly stuck, you can buy lamp/holder complete from Pug for about £2 each.
Some people have reported damaged tracks / ribbon cables causing this problem rather than lamp failure, but mine was just the bulbs.

Re: MFD Dull
dogslife,
Thanks.
I hope its the bulbs.
Before I start, does anyone know if Maplins sell the bulbs which I need? (Rather start having the correct bulb rather then driving around looking with the dash in bits etc lol)
Cheers

They do.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: MFD Dull
