Hi again, so a couple of weeks ago my 406 1.9lx 98 R plate heater motor stopped working.
I have pulled the motor out, and wired it to the battery via the big bla and red wires on the motor and it runs
now i have checked voltage at the connector block which plugs into motor and i get 11.6v, the motor will not run when plugged in. i then wired it to the stereo connctor earth and ignition live (reading 12.3v), again the motor runs
so i need some help, why am i only getting 11.6v at the plug for the motor as oppesed to 12.3v at the stereo plug?
and is this voltage made up when you turn on the heater speed control?
on the socket that plugs top heater motor their is a red and black ignition live and two thin wires one orange 1 pink...
should i get some voltage reading from one of these when i turn the speed switch? or are they for something else?
(i have no reading at either of these wires)
sorry if this sounds confusing, its confusing me

The feed to the fan varies with the speed you select
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

HI,
I had a similar problem on my old car of a similar vintage.
I ended up calling out the Autospark . He got it going again citing a simple circuit problem underneath the battery
tray area were the supply was eathing out somewhere near the big fuses. He said that there are two supplies of power to the ignition circuit. One for the engine circuits and another for the accessories circuit. £60 quid later I was back in action and was worth the cash even if it wasnt true! The problem never arose again tbh.
