stuck headlight

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

stuck headlight

Post by aa410c »

can anyone tell me why my drivers side headlight has become stuck in fully up position whilst my passenger one is sitting in the fully down position.?????????
i assume that they are run by motors of some kind but i cant actually see them as it is all a bit cluttered down there.I have tried rolling the control knob up and down to try and free it but it will not move.Any one know how this system works and how to fix it.?

The motors are stuck in the back of the lights, black things with a white hex socket in the top for adjusting headlamp aim. You turn them about an eighth of a turn anti-clockwise to remove them, as you pull them backwards you'll see the balljoint which connects them to the reflectors, or doesn't as was the case on both my D8's. There's not much clearance on your driver's side because of the ECU box so you might need to get this out of the way to get to it.
