Where is the bonnet open microswitch?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Where is the bonnet open microswitch?

Post by chandler »

Greetings all, this is my first post, and as a noob to the forum and my 406, i have a question.

I have a 2003 2.0HDI exec.

The other night the alarm kept going off - much to my neighbours displeasure - so I was obliged by my better half to stop the racket and take a 3am wander to turn it off.

Subsequently (the next day) the MFD kept warning of an open bonnet. When parked with a bit of a breeze the warning would flash on and off. On reading my Haynes, I learned that the doors boot and bonnet can all trigger the alarm.

Therefore, I'm thinking that if I can fix/adjust the bonnet open microswitch I can use the alarm again. However, on inspection, I can't find anything that looks anything like it.

Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks,

J

On my coupe it's mounted on the nearside bonnet catch

The diagrams are very vague, one just shows it on the front of the car somewhere, others show it somewhere near the engine ecu. Bonnet catch sounds good to me, there's only one on the D9 of course...

Thanks guys,

I found it, if anyones interested, in mine it's in the catch mechanism. Its a small (5mm long / 2mm dia) rubber covered nubbin (no smirking in the back) which is depressed by the 'primary' bonnet lever (that is, the bonnet catch which keeps the it closed rather than held popped open). It's not very obvious, but it's quite accessable once spotted.

I just need to find a way to adjust it now....

Cheers
