Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D8 & D9 towbar wiring

Post by mark21TD »

I have a Peugeot plug in wiring kit and towbar removed from my old D9 (CAT D write off) before it was taken away, will these fit my D8, both are estate's
I thought I'd ask as I don't know if how much they changed things when upgraiding (if you can call it that) to the BSI unit and I don't wont to fry my electrics.
I would asume that the towbar it's self will fit no problem.
They cost a small fortune (about £200 IIRC) and I would rather not buy another one for a D8.

I'd have thought if there were going to be problems it'd happen if you were fitting one from a D8 onto a D9. Is there any electronics with it or is it just wires?

From memory (and it's been 4 years) I think it had a small sealed box in the wiring, but that could have been some kind of relay.

Mine's got a sounder that 'beeps' when the indicators are on, (legally, I believe you have to have that or an additional warning light on your dash, so you know the trailer indicators work), could be your 'relay'.

I don't have the diagrams, but if you get stuck, let me know - I have a D9 & my bro's got a D8 estate, which may be the only 'fleet comparison' possible now young master Earwig has inconveniently disposed of his 2.1......
