Retro fit Cruise control

Hi all, has anyone experienced an aftermarket cruise control? I've just purchased a V reg 110Hdi GTX est. which was advertised with cruise control and it hasn't got it. The dealer is being useless at sorting it out so I want to get it fitted and then sue his arse.

Can anybody recomend a system or installer - I live in Norwich (a million miles to everywhere )

I've just driven 500miles and the rest of the car is great.

The GTX should have it, can't vouch for the 2000 models but in 2001 the GTX was pretty much an exec without the leather, so would have had cruise as standard....

I looked at aftermarket cruise control systems years ago but then changed the car instead. They seem pretty easy to fit though.

I think the earliest diesels with cruise were 'Y' reg 2001 or thereabouts as I spent months trawling the ads for a car with it. Earliest example I found was a 'Y' reg GTX 136 I almost bought.

A few people on here have done a succesful retrofit, but either by swapping the ecu, BSI, and transponder from a car with it, or having it enabled via PP2000. (Plus fitting the switches & stalk whichever way it's done).

as far as i know t,v,some w reg 406 ecu's and bsi boards are without cruise option unless paid for as an extra when new.even executives to w reg had no cruise(unless added as an option).this means it couldnt be "activated" either.
however w,x,y has it pre installed ( bosch ecu 110bhp anyway)
look at my post linked above... yours being v reg and a gtx (i assume its 110 bhp? with bosch engine ecu?) then you need to do what i have done. one thing to watch out for which i think happened to Matt on here is that you really need the speedo cluster from tye donnor car if not it will add you present mileage stored in you existing speedo cluster to that stored in the newly aquired bsi board! giving you mega mileage! unless you not bothered ofc.
my car had 214 k before i did it and 132k after i did it because that was the mileage stored in the donnor cars bsi & speedo cluster- just had to rember not to do the cambelt again!!.
cruise is great btw i use it all the time, my ave fuel consumption has gone from 43 to 51 ! it much more relaxing to drive and i love it..best mod ive done to mine by far. if i can help at all just pm me, or matt im sure he wont mind as hes done it to to his executive hdi.

Don't know about the 90,ive not seen a 90 with cruise, having said that the 306 90 hdi in australia had the option of cruise.. but if you know someone with the pug laptop or a friendly local dealer take it to them and ask them to plug it in and look in the BSI options list and if there get them to mark it as 'present' ,effectively turning it on.I would check the newer one 1st.then find a stalk and on off switch.

It's worth mentioning here that you're talking about the HDI110 here. It's a different story with other engines - All V6s have CC, and I think the 2.1TDs had it too, with it being an option on the 1.9TD and most D9s above poverty spec trim. Maybe.

Both our Vehicles are D9, registered within 6 months of each other.

So what your saying *IF* there is an option in the BSI for Cruise Control, this can be enabled and then all I need is a stalk with cruise and effectively plug and play?

We did this with the wifes 406 as it didnt have the Info Centre, we got a stalk and our local Peugeot Dealer enabled it in the BSI for a marginal sum of money.

While I was car hunting, I think I saw a GTX HDi 90 with cruise. AFAIK all Bosch systems use the EDC15C2 ECU which has the functionality.

I could easily be wrong here, but I thought cruise was only available on the common rail engines - it's done entirely by the ecu controlling the injection duration etc. - no servo gubbins to work the 'throttle' like a petrol.

I use it all the time, wouldn't be without it.

Just imagine holding your right foot in the same place for hours, straining to watch the speedo against glare from the sun in those ever more popular average speed sections of roadworks, not to mention making white van man / go-faster Corsa vanish with a prod of the resume button

Mmm, I suppose you're right I do remember wafting along - arm on armrest, foot on footrest......just one more driver aid would've been the cruise I suppose, or a Chinese girl masaging my head from behind.

I'd likely fall asleep now in a comfy 406 with cruise though
