How do the instrument needles come off ?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

How do the instrument needles come off ?

Post by TopDonkey »

I've pulled my instrument cluster out to fix the temperature gauge, and got to the point where you separate the pcb from the dials, but the needles are stopping me taking the board off and pulling on them with moderate force doesnt seem to remove them.

Is it just a case of pulling a bit harder ?, or is there another method ?

thanks

Try using the prongs of a fork slid under the centre of the mounting bit. Worked for me in the past.

Turns out its one of the needle motor units that has failed, the soldering looks perfect on the whole board under an eye glass, so i need to get into the motor unit now and see whats wrong with it !
