low Brake Fluid Warning when Handbrake applied

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

low Brake Fluid Warning when Handbrake applied

Post by fooby »

Anyone have an idea what's up with my 1999 V reg pug 406 hdi lx? When I apply the handbrake a low brake fluid warning appears (along with a bleep). I've checked the brakefluid and its full to the max. I've just bought the car and am still learning how it all works. Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to the club,

this is a very common problem with the 406, its either the Handbrake sensor switch located by the base of the handbrake lever or it really is low fluid, but as you have checked the fluid I would say that it is the sensor switch at the base.

Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4852&p=77566&hilit= ... ing#p77566 it just about covers what your saying.

Next time have a search in the box at the top left of the screen, the 406 is a car with a lot of common faults, we all love our pugs here but if one has a problem we usually all get to see it at some point.

it's switch under central console.... if you change this switch the problem finished.
