Again sorry if this is aforementioned - i tired searching.
I have two illumination bulbs out on my dash behind the instrument panel. Its not dangerous at the moment but it is annoying and it will become dangerous once one or two more go.
What i want to know is, is it as complex as i think to change these things - it is going to involve deactivating the airbag and disassembling the whole steering column?
Also where do i source these spare bulbs - are they generic lighting bulbs or Peugeot specific?

you meant bulbs in instrument cluster? you don't need to take the steering out to take the instrument cluster out. All you need to do is make steering wheel adjustable and pull it to the full length towards you and then remove the black surrounding with three of ventilating pannels, make sure you undo three torx on the upward of the surrounding. Be very very gentle in pulling the surrounding even after undoing the torxes because there are some clips holding the surround might have become brittle and you'll brake 'em.
then you'll see the cluster secured by three torxes one on top and two bottom if i'm not mistaken. You can check the condition of the bulb holder to figure out why it came out and replace the holders. Bulbs are of course generic and of type T10. Go for 3W instead of 5W which will save the holders and inner plastics from overheating.

Don't forget the torx on the side of the surround, accessed by removing cover on side of dashboard, only accessible with door open.Harshan wrote:you meant bulbs in instrument cluster? you don't need to take the steering out to take the instrument cluster out. this explains each time why surrounding came out with part of the right most ventilation panel on the surrounding and part left on the dash board.plod wrote: Don't forget the torx on the side of the surround, accessed by removing cover on side of dashboard, only accessible with door open.

Re: Daskboard lights
I havnt tried taking it off yet, but I went into halfords and asked about the bulbs and they said they didn't do them for a 406.
Where should I be looking to get these bulbs?

Re: Daskboard lights
They do them for every car. Sounds like a lazy attendent. They are a standard dash bulb.
