Remote Locking?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I very much doubt you've got IR central locking. The IR keys have an eye on the front edge, the RF keys have the LED on the top.
It's possible that the key has lost its sync to the car, there are methods to resync it but I've never got it to work.
Your best bet is to get a matching receiver & key pcb from a breakers. A job I must do some time!

Hi all, don't mean to hijack this topic, would just like a wee bit of advice:

Key blipper knacked on my 1996 406 Exec TD - been up my local scrappy and picked a new key and sensor (from behind glovebox) for a £5 - but not sure I got the right sensor as there are 3 - I took the large black sealed box - there was another one that was sort of a box shape and you could see the circuit board and had antilogger written on it, have I taken the right box or do I need the antilogger one, and can I just take the electrical bit out new key and fit it with my blade?

Cheers all
