Yes thanks mjb, it may help to remove the inside panel on the offside (drivers side) to see if you have the same connectors, this would help me a lot - no screws involved just loosely held in with plastic tabs.
I showed the photo in the original post to Peugeot and they said the connections are for a trailer, still not 100%% sure. I'm now the proud owner of a circuit tester and have found out the following:
. brown connector (3 wires same as rear light connector) has one wire which is powered all the time - even with ignition on and all doors shut
. blueconnector (about 8 wires) has 3 of the contacts in the connector powered all the time - even with ignition on and all doors shut, none of the contacts are powered when the hazards are on.
. yellow connector (4 wires - this is the one I thought would be the basic connector for the trailer - l.ind, r.ind, brakes, lights) doesn't give a squeak when the hazards are on or the lights - damn
Getting close to the point of hacking into the existing wiring and ignoring these extra connectors.
If anyone has any bright ideas or could please check their connections - it's just a five minute job - thanks very much.
I can't really help with the Pug (mine doesn't have towbar) but when I fitted a towbar to my Ashtray there was a plug for it on the loom but the advice was to just lop it off and use the wires as the real thing from GM was ridiculously expensivo.
I reckon it might be easier to use what you have and hack into the loom for the rest.
