D9 cruise retrofit & and wtf's this for?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

why does a bsi cost £900, you could probably get a netbook with some wiring connectors to control a peugoet 406 through usb the file storing all the functions cant be more than 10gb so the cars functions could be kept on a usb pen.
AHAHA!

Try a couple of KBytes running on a small 8/16bit microprocessor running at a VERY low clock speed...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

You sure about that? If you pull the brake light switch out with the ignition on, you'll see the brake lights illuminate...
I've been wondering that too, I presume I could get a make or a break switch but I'd need to know which I need.

It looks the the engine management uses the clutch switch to tell it when it's meant to be idling, presumably this is coupled with the throttle position sensor. So, what would be the effect of the ecu thinking the clutch is down when the brakes are applied? I can't actually see that being a problem, if the clutch isn't actually down the engine's not about to stall anyway. Anyone?

I've spent a good couple of hours on this now, this morning I've been Googling to find BSI-equipped PSAs that this can be done on - ok on a 307 and 407... (speed limiter? Fook that!) but it looks like they need to have a double-pole brake light switch with 4 wires going to it to work. Which I haven't got (I looked, ouch my bluddy neck :( )

I have two switches in front of me, from the brake pedal I believe. One is normally closed and one is normally open. one has a red plug and the other has a white plug, but as they aren't fitted to the car I was guessing which was which. So the brake light switch, white connector, is held open until the pedal is pushed, closing the circuit, and the cruise switch, red connector is held closed until the pedal is pushed, breaking the circuit. The clutch switch, I haven't found yet, has a brown connector. I'm still trying to unravel the loom to see what is what.

I tested the wrong switch. :arrowu: Do you mean that if the brake light switch is unplugged the brake lights come on?

**Edit**
All three switches are fed from fuse 3 in the fusebox by the driver, they are spliced together near the bulkhead seal. After passing through the switches, the wiring for the brake light goes to the bsi, and the brake/clutch pedal cruise wiring passes through the bulkhead, to the ecu I guess.
