D9 Pre-wired Extras - or lack of...

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Can't remember without checking the V5, but it would be between September 2000 & March 2001.

That'll be when it was registered - it is just possible it sat around for a while between manufacture & sale.

(There's a link about somewhere that tells you when it was assembled from the build code on the doorpost sticker - mine took 2 weeks to emerge from Sochaux, full of joie de vivre, before resigning itself to life in Manchester). :cry:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Couldn't have been sat around too long - LX only got electric rear windows & the other odd extras on the X plate. W plates got the front fogs, but still windy rear windows & no wood door trims.

Can't really understand the meaning of " LX " and X plates or W paltes but my estate, have eletric windows on all doors but still doesn't have the wood door trims,the armrest and side airbags isn't there either, because it is an inferior spec... but still it has all the cable looms for the extras like the missing side airbag, eletric and heated seats can be added in the future ..missing all that is strange .. i'hav got to check my friend's estate his estate is from august of 2000, it is a superior spec, have wood door trims, side airbags and armrest...

LX is a trim level, (like your ST). ST's were not sold in Britain, but we had L, LX, GLX, GTX, Executive, later models included Rapier, S and SE.

X & W 'plates' refer to the date code part of the UK registration no., (number plate):

W = 02/2000 - 08/2000
X = 09/2000 - 02/2001
Y = 02/2001 - 08/2001
51 = 09/2001 - 02/2002
02 = 02/2002 - 08/2002
52 = 09/2002 - 02/2003

:arrowu: Not sure if that's exactly right, but you get the idea.....

Trouble is that's mildly confusing and almost completely irrelevant. The best way to date a 406 is the build code, then there's no question about it having stood around for months before it was registered.

I don't think the trim codes make it onto Service Box, apparently mine's an ST too, but SB just says it's got something like lower middle trim. All the rest were probably specified on order, so you might be driving around in something you consider to be a GLX but it's actually base spec with everything else added on.

I guess this is what happens at least here in Portugal, they must have a base model(with every cable looms ,sockets-plugs etc in places) then the client can select what he really wants ...like mine have sunroof, but no trip computer and side airbags and the wood on door cards, only have wood in the dashboard..

This might help. Or make things more confusing (delete as applicable :lol: ) - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment ... ?model=660

I think it's just what manufacturers expect people to understand. Or what manufacturers understand people to expect.
Wiki wrote:A grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo) (GT) is a high-performance luxury automobile designed for long-distance driving. The most common format is a two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement.

The term derives from the Italian phrase gran turismo, homage to the tradition of the grand tour, used to represent automobiles regarded as grand tourers, able to make long-distance, high-speed journeys in both comfort and style. The English translation is grand touring.
These days GT is taken to mean anything with a bit more performance over the standard.

Then there's
Luxe
Grande Luxe
Super
Luxe Super
Grande Luxe Super
Special Equipment
I think we have Ford to blame for "X-pack", which I think was an extra level of trim available to anyone who wanted one up on their neighbour.
Strangely there's no Special Equipment X pack :?

I've no idea what St means, perhaps Sanitary Towel?

That's strange. I thought it was Diablo Red too, but when I bought a spray can from Halfords the other day the Diablo Red looked way too dark so I bought Pagoda Red. Good job it wasn't for bodywork.
