Radio/Trip Computer gone wild! It's ALIVE!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I prefer not to change the stock radio as I like the flush dashboard better. I'll remove it when I finally get to build my carpc.

Ah isee your point yup the standard ones blend in better,
but there not good quality ,

there are some aftermarket stuff out there that look good in the 406,

ithink the sony D masks blend in well,

iripped my unit out as it was just a waste of space the aftermarket one sounds better and mp3s are the way less discs to have in the car 8)

well for mp3 you don't need an MP3 radio, I have this Zippy MP3 FM transmitter that plugs into the cigarrete socket, sync the frequency and there you go MP3 rocking, and yes .. don't try anything bought in the chinese warehouse, costs less but when i bought mine the sound wasn't pleasant, then i went there they gave me a new one .. the same problem..i gave up, and went into a recognize market here in PT, and was the solution, plays extremely well .. so Chinese market is plenty with full of crap... i'm happy having my original radio with the CD interchanger and MP3 anyway :cheesy:

a wired fm transmitter is a much better job, it plugs direct into the aeriel connector and the other end into the 3.5mm socket.
Only problem at the moment is the gsm noise sometimes

as for the mfd being on sometimes my mfd backlight remained on after turning the car off, turning it on again and off cured it.
the time the bsi went mad the radio wouldnt adjust.

Anyone fixed this?
It's still present as is in many 406s. My radio often hangs (MFD doesn't change time, temperature etc), sometimes the MFD works but the radio doesn't.

Maybe some dry solder joints in the radio? Or a bad BSI? It's pretty annoying.
