has air con compressor died?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

True, this happened to me.
Strangely the car AC comes and goes on mine, today was hot and had a whole 400 miles trip without the AC (compressor not kicking in).
Yesterday it worked and probably so will tomorrow. Anyone guessing why it acts strangely?

So it cuts off if the pressure in the system is too high, could that be the reason?

True, in D8 it's the A/C controller module you find under the fan module. In D9 it's the BSI which controls the comp. If the clutch is in good nick, then it must be the controller

Thanks Eric I'll give it a shot. Many 406 here (in the italian coupé forum) have suffered from controller failure.

PS: monday comes the postman with a 200kg crate, including your injectors! can't wait :cheesy:

I did do that some time ago once just to give them a blast, will do again in the next days every one or two days, then I hope to replace the injectors the week after the coming one. I'll ask the mechanic to do that if he doesn't want more than 30€, if he does then I'll do it myself.

Yours were class 2 right? Mine are. (guess I'm lucky)

EDIT: and no, it's you that don't get enough sunshine. 8)
