OBD/Diagnostic socket

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

plod - thanks for doing that - it appears that my car hasn't got it fitted as standard :(

dogslife - Thanks also for your help on this, I have got a stalk off e-bay for £7.50 so nothing harmed if I can't activate the trip computer......thanks also for the kind offer but I can't get to Gaydon next weekend, it is miles from South Cumbria and I am in the midst of a major job at home which senior management wants completing!

How would I go about getting a copy of the required software....?

If anyone on here has it near to me i'd be happy to pay to have the trip activated, if possible.

Thanks to both of you for helping with this, really appreciated. 8)

No problem

However it seems trip functionality can be wired up in a number of derivitives

I'm currently working on fitting it to my D8 HDi

I have the stalk, I have the correct MFD, I have installed a couple of the wires necessary, but am awaiting my new dials so I can have the clocks out and solder a couple of connections onto the back of them to get this up and running

Here's the main thread - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=154&hilit=trip+computer
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406

your 406 is facelift right ? If it is, then it will most likely have all the necessary stuff for the trip ...
2000/May 406 Estate 2.0 HDI 110bhp DW10ATED now with 205k km & now with cruise control & now remaped @ 134bhp

Yes mine is the facelift (could do with one myself)

Thanks for that - I'm hoping (probably in vain) that when I put the new wiper stalk on it just works and the trip activates.......failing that...I will have to take it to the main stealer for them to activate it :(
