short, now won't start

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Probably about time for an update;
Well eventually I gave up searching decided to break in to the car and get the bsi unit code. I originally had a quote for £105! for a lock smith to get in to it but I managed to get a local guy out to cut me a new key with out chip, on site for only £45. So now I have been searching for a new BSI/ECU/ ignition/locks and key set on ebay to fit but so far none has come up and all the 1.8s I can find in scrap yards have a different code.
So now I am left with the quandary do I keep looking or do I have another key with a transponder cut at £65 and then call an auto electrician out at £85 hr?

For the record codes are:
BSI 96 509 142 80 / VALEO:161 998 01
ECU: 9648804980/ 9644674980
