Ruinous expense - part 1

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Oh no, I wanted to get some for the Pug on your recommendation but when I looked I couldn't find anyone to sell me any here and I didn't think they'd make it through the post if I got them from ebay or whatever. Besides, they can't be that much better can they? Enough to justify the expense of both the bulbs and the postage to HR?

Well yes, it's just annoying that to do dips & mains on the Pug I'd need twice as many bulbs and, despite being smaller and only having one filament, they're more expensive as well. I'm surprised the yoyo uses H4s because the other bulbs I've had to change on it have been something weird (and expensive :frown: )

H4's are so last week.

Depends on the design of the reflector, most cars have one headlight and a separate full beam reflector - the yoyo's just got the one.

I've still got a pair of HB3 bulbs for our old BMW, they were weird.

Update time.

The first of the Osram Walletbreakers expired this morning after nearly 8 months. :(

I make that 14k miles, if we say half with the lights on, at my average speed of 38, (which my longer running trip seems to always say nowadays), tots up to about 180 hours.
More or less as predicted then - they say 200 hours.

I suppose that's not too bad?

I've been saying I'll give Nightbreakers a go in the Coupe when the current bulbs fail, which they have therefore refused to do.

One of the first things I noticed when I got my 406 was how good the headlights were, at least compared with my previous cars, this was reinforced by someone flashing their headlights at me the other night when I had inadvertently left them on main beam (warning light doesn't work) the light was shining directly up my side of the road and couldn't be seen on his side so they must be bright!

I just replaced one of my Nightbreakers on Tues night! I get about 200hrs too based upon my headlights being permanently on Swedish-style and about 4 hrs per week x 52 weeks etc etc. luckily I had one in stock but need some replacements now.

Who's the cheapest at the moment for the Ozzy's ??

I was so impressed, I bought the,,,,,a pair for the 106. They are peculiar because the dip is more yellowy and the main is more bluey,,bizarre.

Had them in 406 for a couple years now, no failures yet, daft thing to even think let alone put into print.

Are they not 'Ultra' & 'Extreme'? or is that SD cards?

Has anyone else noticed that headlamp bulbs always blow when it's pissing it down with rain? I can't ever remember changing any of mine on a nice dry day :?
