alarm, key in boot, auto windows?????????????

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

woo hoo
auto windows are finished after a week of trying to work out the wiring on the total closure kit realised that i didnt need it after all
all i needed was a different plug to connect to the window motor (the plug off any 406 with rear electric windows) so any1 that has rear electric windows this is a matter of only connecting 1 wire and job done when you lock the car the windows will close too hope this helps any1 else wanting auto windows :D

Well done Damo! I haven't done anything with that lock in the boot yet, I might try jumpering it to see if it does anything.

Can you elaborate a bit please? Which wire (from where to where)?

I've spotted a few errors in the wiring diagrams too, where there's something missing or where the wiring is just plain wrong. I think that's in what they mean by the word "typical" - "we don't really know but cars in general are typically like this so it'll probably do."

ok if you take your door card off and un plug the motor to your window and look in the plug the connectors are numbered 1-9 the cable coming out of conector 6 (the cabes have the numbers 6261, 6262, 6263, 6264, on them ) needs to be conected to the live switch wire from your door lock not sure if you have to do it to each door though
hope this helps if you need pictures or any more info let me know

heres a picture of the end of the plug
i have done the numbers so they're a bit clearer
Image
connector number 6 is the one you want not sure what colour it is but the rear drivers side (the one i got from scrap yard) is purple but this may not be the case for all of them but the cables are numbered on the cable:
front drivers door- 6261
front passengers door- 6262
rear drivers door- 6263
rear passenger door- 6263
you may be able to just jump off one of these cables (cut and rejoin the cable and add another cable like a y ) to go to the lock and it may power the rest but not sure as i only have the front electric windows.
you will need to find the switch wire that comes live when you lock the door with a multi meter (cant remember what number this cable is but ill have a look when i get a chance)
sorry if its a bit vague. ill take my door card off and take some more pics

I'd be extremely wary about doing it that way. It sounds like you're keeping the window motors live while the car's locked, which could burn out the motors and/or flatten the battery. The thing with the factory total closure system is it only powers the windows as long as is needed to close them

the power is regulated by the motor though. so when the motor recognises the window is closed it cuts the power so its not using any power.
thats why when you disconnect the power to the window you have to reprogram it aint it.
i have had mine done for 2 weeks now and works ever time and had no problems at all

i wouldnt even know where to start looking
I've just had a look in my car and I've got the same lock inside the boot (and no key to fit it :frown: ); it must be for disabling the siren.
I'll have to try splicing the wires & see if it works![/quote

Hi 1.the lock in the boot is an over ride switch to turn the alarm off
2. the standard siren is behind the bumper in a tin box under the boot floor o/s/r wheel arch if you jet wash under the wheel
arch it can damage the siren
