Couple of electrical gremlins, help required

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Nutski posted a link to the file from his car: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11831&start=15#p105734
This is probably compatible with yours, but these things don't always turn out that way.

Suggest you confirm he's OK with it, then download away.....

I will happily do it for you, (at your own risk), but with the distance involved you may be cheaper getting a Galletto 1260 lead off eBay
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

To be honest bud I'd rather line your pocket with some beer tokens to flash the file over to be honest. Whereabouts in Northants are you? Could you do this Saturday morning or afternoon?

Thank you bud, I was about to write a PM out and ask your permission.

I have no idea what HW and SW means but I guess doggy will understand that more than me? :)

Basically when CJ tried to write the map from my car it didn't work, possibly because mine was a Y reg, which is why hopefully your car will be ok, he told me his Hardware and Software versions of his ECU which you find out when you first make a backup of your ECU, each time I've used the cable I've made 3 backups just to be safe!
With the HW and SW versions I might be able to find you a matching file if mine didn't work for you

Cool, sounds very technical! Is there a club donation place or paid subscription at all? As if this works then I feel it'll be my duty to put something back into this club to show my appreciation and grattitude. I'm on alot of car forums, mainly VAG and I've never come across anybody happy to share mapping files etc, it's good to see a proper club exists!!

i downloaded it as well. cheers. i doubt it will work in my 02 lx tho.
one thing that concerns me is that the actual map alterations are unknown, it would be better if a map file from a known install was used ?

I'm happy for anyone that wants to try my map file to do so, I'll leave the file on my webspace.
I will say, as I'm sure others will too, you try it at your own risk, I, nor the forums are responsible if something goes wrong!!! :)

Modified406, I presume it should work on yours, being 6 months older than mine and my was the last before the multiplex buggery came in!

Alladdin, I don't think it will work on yours being newer as CJ found out, might still be able to point you in the direction of one though.

Also where you say it would be better to have a map from a known install, the one that has been downloaded from me has been on my car for over 3 years now, I paid over £200 to have a professional tuning company map my car so I know it is legit and not a file tweaked by some acne riddled chav in his bedroom!!
