Heated mirrors or not?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Heated mirrors or not?

Post by Pugman406 »

Hi guys

I have a 200 x-plate 406 glx.

Can anyone tell me if it should have heated mirrors or not? My old mondeo had them and they worked when the heated front screen was activated, so wondered if the 406 does the same when the windscreen blower button is activated?

Thanks

I don't think there's a separate fuse as they take the +ve feed directly from the rear heated window switch.
Would be worth popping the mirror glass off; you should have 2 leads connected to the mirror glass. The tags do become quite brittle going into the element but they can be soldered back on if you can clean them up enough. Also check for 12v on the leads with the rear demister turned on!
