Re: keyfob
well the key might already have the immobiliser chip inside it its a small black chip and sits at the front of the key, if the car starts with the key as it is at the moment then its good stuff, becasuse all you need is the electronics part for the central locking, if you get one of these it actually says in the owners manual how to program it to the car, i did it myself there a few months ago, you put the key in the ignition, turn it to the first point where only the battery light is lit, then press and hold in either the unlock or lock buttons until a bleep or something as such occurs and thats it the central locking part is reprogrammed. I can look up the handbook to get the full procedure, but you need to be sure the car starts on the current key so that its not the imobilizer chip you need.
Re: keyfob
I have a key that the car (regT 1999) starts up with but dosen't remotely un-lock the car, it's a double button key fob. Can you look up the full procedure from handbook and post it up here if it's not a bother.

Re: keyfob
now it will not start... it turns over but no kick,, see my woes under electrical section rather than me double post under Irratical dials. thanks. john

Re: keyfob
if it wont start then its the immobiliser thats a small black chip, it looks a bit like a piece of plastic the size of the rubber on the top of a pencil, it could have fell out without you knowing, if the immobiliser is still there, then it could be the battery, if the car starts right again i can look up the procedure no bother for you
Re: keyfob
guys, ive now got the key fob working again.. when i say working i mean, i can press the wee button the fob, an it lights up,,, what would i need to do now,, will it again need programmed to the car ??? any ideas grateful... what exact function does tis wee button when it lights up do... is this the immobiliser. ???? an if so,,, can someone tell me how I programme it to the car.... is their a way that you do it. ?/ thanks.........cheers.

Re: keyfob
your key has a light, mine doesnt have one on it, is it a 1 or 2 button key because i know how to reprogram the 2 button key in my car i have the instructions as a pdf for the reprogramming section but i cant upload the files, however i have got this extract:
"Programming the remote control:
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Switch the ignition on again.
3. press button A.
4 Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the ignition lock.
The remote control is now working again."
thats from the pdf on the manual for my car, to get the owners manual for your year of car, peugeot uk offers a facility called my peugeot and after i registered with it i got acess to the manual there is manuals for different year of 406 available, but thats really all the help i can be

Re: keyfob
in that case then your best bet is to buy yourself a key, and have it sorted out by a reprogrammer, a google search for a car key reprogrammer in your area might do the trick

Re: keyfob
John, if I understand you correctly, you would seem to either be missing the actual switch on the circuit board or it's not working... If either of these are correct, you can get replacement switches as shown it the attached link, it all depends if you are handy with a soldering iron, or know someone who is

When I got my 406, the switch was missing from the remote key so I got a gash one from the local scrappy and took one of the switches off it, then soldered it onto my original circuit board. I think that I'm right in saying that the two switches are the same so it doesn't matter which one you take off the donor board.
Hope this is of some help
